Next, read the parents, less for behavior to police than for the emotional temperature they are giving off. Do they seem relaxed and present, able to enjoy the game and let a mistake go, or are they wound tight, riding every call and every possession? Watch how they respond when a kid messes up, theirs or anyone's, because that moment reveals whether the environment feels safe to them.
