For Nina Leksin, sports have shaped every stage of her life—from a 5th grader discovering basketball to a high school volleyball player learning discipline, to an adult rediscovering her love for the game through ZogSports. Now, as Senior Manager of Customer Success and Talent Development at ZogSports, she’s giving others the same gift that sports gave her: a lifelong sense of belonging.
It All Started With a Team
Nina’s sports journey began when she joined an intramural basketball team in 5th grade. “I wasn’t the fastest on the court,” she admits, “but I had a great shot, and more importantly, I loved being part of a team.” That love for sports led her to softball and volleyball, and by high school, volleyball became her true passion.
"Not only did I make some of my closest friends, but I also learned the discipline to always improve—a mindset I carry with me to this day."
Falling Back in Love With the Game
Like many, Nina found herself drifting away from organized sports after college. But when she and her husband moved from NYC to Jersey City, they needed a way to meet new people. That’s when they discovered ZogSports volleyball league—a decision that would change everything.
"At first, I was nervous after some time away from the game, but from the very first night, I fell right back in love with volleyball and made an amazing group of JC friends."
What started as a fun way to stay active became a core part of their social life. Nine years later, they’re still playing every season.
From Player to Professional
Then came an unexpected email.
ZogSports was hiring, and Nina—who was working in administration at a private school—saw a perfect opportunity to combine her professional skills with her love for sports. She applied, landed the job, and hasn’t looked back.
